Rheumatic Heart Disease

Posted by Health articles on October 26th, 2009

Rheumatic heart disease is a specific cardiac condition that is caused when bacterial infections damage the heart valves. Genus Streptococcus is the bacterium responsible for such infections. It is the same bacterium that causes tonsillitis (commonly known as strep throat). When the condition of tonsillitis is left untreated, it may result in bacterial spread, which may have very serious consequences. The bacteria may travel to the heart and cause inflammation, eventually damaging the tissues in heart valves.

Signs And Symptoms:
As it is quite clear now, strep throat can be a big alert sign, especially if you are experiencing it for over a couple of weeks. However, in some cases, it appears that strep throat has been thoroughly treated, but in fact, the infection still remains there and it keeps on spreading in different parts of your body. It is very much likely that such bacterial infection will silently reach your heart and cause rheumatic heart disease. Therefore, strep throat infections must be taken very seriously. Even if your throat seems to be working fine, you should keep taking the medicine to completely remove the infection. Some common symptoms that you may experience when you have such heart infections include jerky movements in the muscles, extreme fatigue, chest pain, shortness of breath, and rash with rheumatic fever.

Risk Factors:
There are several risk factors that may be responsible for increasing the speed of bacterial infection. For example, those with prosthetic valves are highly susceptible to have such problems. Likewise, bacterial infection is more likely to cause heart valve complications in those who are already suffering from congenital heart problems. What is more, there are many underdeveloped countries where no proper treatment is available for strep throat. Therefore, the condition of not treating throat infection is also a major risk factor for rheumatic heart disease in various parts of the world.

Can It Be Prevented?
There is no guaranteed way to prevent such problems, but still, you can do plenty of things to substantially reduce the chance of such bacterial infection and the subsequent rheumatic complications. For example, Personal hygiene can play a very important role in this regard. The basic idea is to eliminate the chance of getting affected with a strep throat. Besides that, if strep throat still occurs, you must seek immediate medical help from experts. Any delay in treatment can be very dangerous for your heart health.

There are several antibiotics online that can be used to treat rheumatic heart disease. You may have to take these antibiotics for up to six weeks. However, in case of severe reactions and damage, the doctor may suggest you to go for surgical treatment. But such severe conditions occur only after several years of deterioration of the heart valves. If you take proper care regularly, the condition may not reach that severity level.

Getting a Grip on Your Disability

Posted by Health articles on October 25th, 2009

If you have an injury, neuromuscular disability, arthritis, stroke or carpal tunnel syndrome, you are among the tens of thousands of people living in North America with diminished hand strength and dexterity. The main problem with diminished strength and dexterity in your hands is the lack of grip strength. There are many great products on the market which you can buy to help with your grip -grip gloves, braces, powders, grip sprays etc. all designed with getting a better grip in mind. All of these products are certified and guaranteed by their respective companies to do what they were designed for. However, there seems to be an area where people have to be more creative in finding grip aids – personal grooming. Most find tips and tricks over the internet or talking to their physiotherapists. These tips and tricks could save you time, energy and money, all things which are very important to anyone’s life, not only the disabled.

Tip # 1- Grip sleeves for tools are about $3-$4 each. It can really add up if you consider everything which you consider a tool. They are helpful and function well, however they can be bulky causing fatigue and cramping over time. A simpler idea would be to use foam rubber shelf paper, available everywhere including dollar stores. It is used by physiotherapists as an inexpensive method of adapting everyday items into an easy to grip item. Just cut out a piece of foam the size of the tool, wrap it around the handle, and secure it with rubber bands. The rubber adds an extra dimension for gripping without slipping, and will cut down on nasty vibrations.

Tip # 2 – Squeezing is an area which grip can be painful. Buy toothpaste and other products which are available in ‘pump’ dispensers. It may be more expensive (around a dollar more) but it will be worth every penny. You can also buy pump dispensers from your local pharmacy and transfer your favorite products into them. If pumps are still painful, try blocks of soap and shampoo. They can be bought at most ‘natural’ shops like The Body Shop or Lush. These products also work for people with chemical sensitivity problems.

Tip # 3 – In the shower, always have a chair or stool to sit on. There are many different products on the market today to help but if you are frugal, you can use a stool or chair from a hardware store with rubber feet. Also, a rubber mat will help with slipping, and rails are always indispensable. Having a shelf next to, or in the shower will allow you to do more without bending or stretching. An adjustable shower head will be helpful for washing your hair or shaving your legs without the exhaustion. Some people have problems with heat or cold. Having the fan on while you shower or bathe will help with the heat and having a large towel next to the bath will help with cold. Try sewing the towel together to form a tube, this will be easier to keep it on, and help with drying your back without extra effort.

Tip # 4To style hair without pain or exhaustion, use a long handled brush or comb. Adding a long stick to the handle can elongate the brush or comb, once again wrap it in rubber for extra grip. Buying a stand up hairdryer will be the best purchase you may buy in your life. You can sit under it and read while the dryer does all the work.

Saving energy and avoiding pain from a lack of grip strength is very important for people who suffer from an injury, neuromuscular disability, arthritis, stroke or carpal tunnel syndrome. Finding products to help with everyday functions will make your life much easier and less stressful. There are many companies who provide these products for every special need. Check online and at your local pharmacy to find these products, and talk to your physiotherapist for more tips and tricks. There is a wealth of information you can access without exerting any energy at all.

How to reduce cellulite

Posted by Canadian health care on October 23rd, 2009

You want to reduce cellulite. Well, you’re not the only one. Not by a long shot. You’ve no doubt gone through quite a few bogus cellulite creams, pills, and other scammy products. You should know by know that those products are a waste of time and money. You can NOT reduce cellulite with any topical product. Ask your doctor if you don’t believe me. Luckily, you can reduce cellulite using simple and natural techniques.

If you don’t know by now, “cellulite” is not a real thing. It’s just a made up word used to describe the orange peel look that many women have on their lower body. It’s due to the connective tissue under the skin. Since fat is very soft, it bulges through the tissue like stuffing in a mattress. The skin in the thighs and butt is also thinner than normal skin, making it even more visible. All a cellulite cream can do is increase circulation in the skin, causing it to swell. This will flatten the area for a short time, THAT’S IT.

Fortunately, you can reduce cellulite with some simple targeted exercises and dietary changes. You don’t need to spend hours doing intense cardio or starve yourself. You don’t even have to lose weight. An efficient program can effectively reduce cellulite in nearly all women in as little as 6 weeks. Plus, it takes less than 3 hours per week.

By simply toning the muscle and skin the lower body, you can effectively reduce cellulite in less than 2 months. It’s a lot easier than you’d think. If you haven’t had success with cellulite creams, body wraps, pills, and other “cellulite treatment” products, keep your head up. You CAN get rid of your cellulite problem for good. Stop waiting for a miracle product to do the work for you and you will see excellent results.

Medical Insurance Colorado

Posted by Canadian health care on October 22nd, 2009

If you are self employed in Colorado and you do not have medical cover due to your partner or another group plan, it is imperative that you study Colorado self employed medical insurance for you and your family. Health insurance can be high-priced but the alternative of not having any can devastate families.

The costs of health cover seems to have considerably gone up at the moment. It is just about hopeless to put food on the table these days, without having to worry about paying for medical insurance. Various employers are no longer paying the bill for employee’s coverage. This has caused loads of people to have to ditch their health care coverage, all together.

When disease, illness or a major accident comes along, it can eliminate your savings and you can end up losing the lot, merely because you did not have any medical insurance. With people turning to alternative methods of earning an income, the web has provided many with the financial steadiness that they need to get through each week. Several are finding out that working for themselves from home is the most realistic answer to our present financial problems.

When you work from home, you don’t have to pay vehicle expenses to go back and forth, you can sit in your night clothes and work and you won’t have to get any more expensive suits to wear to the workplace. There are many advantages to this rather than working for a large company. Sadly, along with the advantages you have to consider the negative of not having most important health insurance.

When you are self employed, you need to make sure that you can pay for the coverage that you and your family call for for visits to the physician, surgery, hospital visits, medication and much more. When you are without health cover, you have to rely upon welfare hospitals to take care of you and the treatment in those hospitals is far from pleasant. If you try to go to a ordinary hospital and it is not a life threatening occurrence and you have no medical insurance, chances are good that you will be turned away for care.
Autism and Aspergers
Hospitals simply do not have the funds to keep seeing patients and providing treatment for them without ever being paid for services. If you don’t think that you can manage bills incurred for medical services out of your pocket, you need to find out what Colorado self employed medical cover will cost. There are masses of options available to you, you just have to know where to set off your search.

We’ve all seen the advertisements on TV, chatting about services that are reasonably priced for you and your loved ones when it comes to medical insurance. What they do not tell you usually is that the low prices that they are quoting on the television are for the basic minimum service plan. With these low coverage plans, you’ll only be permitted to see a specified medical doctor a specified number of times a year. You will more than likely have a awfully high deductible and your expenses for each visit will be extremely high.

Don’t fall prey to these false adverts. Understand that the cost of health cover is high, but within your means. You can pick from several kinds of plans. Some medical insurance plans incorporate major medical, prescription drug coverage, vision benefits and dental care. If you do not call for all of these services, you can normally get them separately or together as a bundle as needed.

Be expecting to find plans that will cover only specified illnesses or kinds of surgery. If you’re getting a major medical plan. In a number of cases, even after you’ve paid your twelve-monthly deductible, you will have to shell out a share of any and all services that you receive.

Look into what sort of prescription drug coverage is offered. If you or your family that will be covered under your health cover plan are currently taking medication as a preventive measure, be certain that the medications or their generic equivalent are on the drug list that is covered by that plan. Several times, you may have to increase to a 3 tiered prescription drug benefit plan. This may be a small amount more high-priced but its value exceeds this far greater.

The Problems Caused by Snoring

Posted by Canadian health care on October 22nd, 2009

I wanted to talk to you about the problems caused by snoring because I don’t think people really address this enough. Since people really don’t understand the problems they don’t want to fix anything. This is why people can go their entire lives doing this. It really isn’t that hard to fix, but you have to be motivated to do it. I guess without the education on the subject than you’ll never have that overall motivation, which you see for other problems like weight loss. At least with weight loss people know why they should fix the problem. Even if they fail, they still try.

Shallow Sleeping: This is a huge problem for a lot of people. Have you ever went to bed and got a full 9 hours of sleep, but were still tired in the morning? This is probably due to your shallow sleeping. The sleep that helps with tired feelings comes from deep sleep. You can’t get into this deep sleep when you’re making loud noises all night. You also can’t forget that the rumbling in the throat is a vibration that resonates into your head. This only makes it more difficult to get meaningful sleep.

Marital Problems: I think this is one thing that people often miss out on. You’re going to have your spouse in the bed next to you each night and they’re going to hear your snoring all night long. They’re going to get a lot less sleep. At least when you’re snoring, you’re asleep when it happens. They have to fall asleep and it is difficult. This leaves a person in a frustrated and stressed out state all the time. This will put strains on any relationship.

Suicide Depression

Posted by Health articles on October 21st, 2009

Depression and suicide are two things that tend to come hand in hand. Rarely would one kill themselves without being horrendously sad. Thoughts of death may sound sweet to those who are grieved with such an illness – Suicide Depression

Does depression lead to suicide? As a man am I less prone to become affected by suicide and depression? What can I do to prevent it? What should I do if I know someone who is feeling suicidal?

What causes depression is an imbalance of serotonin, a hormone, in the brain. It has been linked as a major contributor and a cause for someone deciding to kill themselves.
Treatment for depression
Suicide is one of the most leading causes of death in America. Some of the things that increase the risk of suicide are keeping a gun in your home and having a mental illness.

The number of people who are depressed and die from suicide is roughly fifth-teen percent. Men are four times as likely as women to die from an attempted self-killing, although women attempt it more frequently but with failure. The elderly have the highest rate of successful suicides with sixty four dieing from suicide for every one hundred thousand who die in general. The amounts of recorded suicides in the world have been steadily increasing for years now, along with the amount of people diagnosed with depression.
Autism information
If you or someone you know is suicidal you should seek professional help for them. No matter what the age or gender, it is not a healthy train of thought in the least. Do not see it as an attempt for attention and that they won’t try.

There is a clear link between the two. Depression is the door to suicide, although not everyone steps through. Whether or not someone is male, female, old, or young depression could happen. Just as that could happen, so could suicide.

Alopecia

Posted by admin on October 20th, 2009

Alopecia or hair loss is the medical description of the loss of hair from the head or body, sometimes to the extent of baldness.

ALOPECIA

The study of genetics will improve hair baldness therapy. Preventing baldness is possible. Treatment pharmacological minoxidil and finasteride has opened the way for others medications to treat hair loss. The future, according to experts, is gene therapy for hair loss. If until recently the treatment of baldness and hair loss was a breeding ground for false promises, at present, the scientific way towards solving the alopecia and hair loss has just begun. New derivatives of finasteride as episteride, the turusteride, MK-963, the RU-58841 or the local palicación receptor antagonists of male hormones are being of various tests to treat hair loss.

GENE THERAPY

According to a review published in August in New England Journal of Medicine , there are now many fronts in the search fo find a remedy for hair loss. On the one hand, the Boston magazine refers to the need to know all key pathophysiological different kinds of alopecia and well design drugs that protect the follicles which causes deterioration stop producing hair. But without a doubt, scholars have put almost all its hope in the possibilities offered by gene therapy. We have already identified one of the genes associated with alopecia universalis, a type baldness very rare in which a mutation in a gene on chromosome 8 causes the affected person has no hair on any part of your body.

According Authors of this review, identify and explain the operation of all the genes involved in androgenetic hair loss will be critical to develop treatments. For Ralf Paus and George Cotsarelis, a dermatologist in Hamburg University and Pennsylvania, “the hair follicle is the way of access more feasible to implement them. For now, being tested on mice local laboratory introduction of liposomes containing DNA capable of regenerate the damaged follicle. If some of these expectations come to fruition, it will mean a step giant in the eradication of what for many is a very serious problem.

The Two Sigma Research Institute, presented last week a study on the psychological impact of mild to moderate hair loss in 403 males between 25 and 45. 63% of respondents feel less attractive and 28% believed that most hair could find mates more easily. More than half of those who said they felt anxious about hair loss, and 14% of those who say not to worry about the problem, have tried some kind of remedy for hairloss. All who are in these circumstances must know that, for now, only two medications have proven effective to treat baldness.

One is minoxidil, a vasodilator of smooth muscle (whose mechanism of action is still unknown) that triggers the hair follicles and get hair loss improved by over 80% of patients, with little effect side. The second is finasteride, released on 1998. This drug inhibits an enzyme that promotes male baldness genetically predisposed. It has been shown that finasteride slows alopecia in 80% of cases, with a good safety profile and few contraindications.

The Diabetes Statistics

Posted by Health articles on October 20th, 2009

In the western world, with obesity levels reaching all time highs, the diagnosis of type 2 diabetes is growing at staggering rates. And unfortunately will only get worse. Even between 2001 to 2002 the diagnosis of diabetes rose from 5.5% to 6.5% in just one year!

Overall over 12 million US citizens have been diagnosed with diabetes and at least half that number have it but don’t know about it. And it’s estimated that another 12 million plus people are on the fast track to Type 2 Diabetes because of rising glucose levels.

Not knowing if you have this disease and the symptoms is the worst, because untreated the repercussions are terrible. These can include blindness, amputations, circulation problems and ultimately an earlier death! For most people type 2 diabetes is almost avoidable.

Doctors usually say eat better, eat less and do more exercise. The numbers show that this advice is being ignored as many Americans are overweight or obese. The statistics show that people are living for many years longer and this seems to be an upward trend. Unfortunately this will not continue if type 2 diabetes is not controlled.

Sadly, diabetes is not just a USA problem. It is spreading worldwide at epidemic rates.

So if you are currently suffering from the following symptoms;- excessive desire to drink, frequent need to urinate, increased lethargy and fatigue. Excessive hunger, severe irritation, itching, blurred vision and sudden weight loss. Take an hour out of your day and go see your doctor immediately.

Generally in term of statistic, lung cancer survival is generally could survive up to a five year, which is the percent of affected people with cancer who live at the least five years after their cancer is diagnosed.

Have you heard of people spending Five-hundred-thousand dollars of prior medical treatments and yet had not cured lung cancer? Although some verbalized that chemo treatment was reported to be 90-95% successful in the initial stage of diagnosis for survival rates, but the amount of cell been destroyed of normal healthy immune system and been exposed to toxic carcinogens yet to be disclosed accurately.

Too many people put blind faith in their doctors, and they are ending up dying as a result. We need to learn to take responsibility for our own health, and not allow the medical community to force us to go along with their money-making schemes. Life is precious, and should never be sacrificed so others can profit blindly. I am not saying not to be treated by doctor but you have your right to benefit your healthy immune system as well.

Have you ever heard of apricot seed which contain natural B17 (laetrile), other enzymes, vitamins and beneficial minerals?

B17 vitamin will definitely attack a cancer cell, if it is present in your body.

Many top scientists claim that when consumed, the B17 would make it 100% impossible to develop cancer. More details are describe over here at Survival Rate.
